Medina Hospital is now a Cleveland Clinic Hospital
Rob Stall President, Medina Hospital
The Medina General Hospital Board recently elected Robert P. Stall as the new president of Medina General Hospital, effective April 15.
For 25 years, Stall has worked at Cleveland Clinic. For the past two years, he served as president of Euclid Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic hospital. In his new role at Medina General Hospital, Stall will report to the Medina General Hospital Board and oversee the staff and operations of the hospital. Under the management agreement between Medina General and Cleveland Clinic, Stall will bring in key executives to work closely with him through the affiliation's completion. He will also begin working with a team at the hospital to begin putting together a comprehensive strategic plan for Medina General Hospital. To fully understand the needs of the community and the hospital and as part of his transition, Stall plans to engage employees and physicians to discuss and identify new opportunities for Medina General Hospital.
"This was a unanimous decision to appoint Rob as our new hospital president," said Charles Coleman Jr., Medina General Hospital, Chairman of the Board. "We believe he is the right fit for this community and our hospital and through his leadership, we look forward to positioning Medina General Hospital to better meet the needs of this community, as well as strengthening it for future growth opportunities."
Stall replaces Gary Hallman who has served as president of Medina General Hospital for 16 of his nearly 21 years at the hospital. Hallman will work closely with Stall to acquaint and introduce him throughout the Medina community and to ensure a smooth transition and a full understanding of the community needs.
Under Stall's leadership, Euclid Hospital has experienced both tremendous inpatient and outpatient volume increases; patient satisfaction scores have flourished; physician satisfaction has risen more than 20 percent and employee satisfaction and engagement has been ranked the highest throughout the Cleveland Clinic regional hospitals.
Before serving as president of Euclid Hospital, he was the Division Administrator for the Cleveland Clinic Regional Medical Practice for 13 years. In this role, he was instrumental in developing the Strongsville, Wooster and Brunswick Family Health Centers and directed the strategic planning and operations of a 440-physician multi-specialty regional practice in 14 different locations throughout Northeast Ohio and Toronto, Canada.
Stall is also a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve. In March 2009, he took command of the 98th Training Division, headquartered in Rochester, NY. This division consists of initial entry training of more than 5,000 soldiers located at Army Reserve Centers east of the Mississippi from Maine to Puerto Rico. Prior to this assignment, he was the Assistant Division Commander, 80th Training Command (The Army Schools System).
"I am really looking forward to joining the great team of employees, volunteers, physicians and trustees at Medina General Hospital," said Stall. "I appreciate the Board's confidence in me and I feel honored to have been selected to serve at Medina as its President."
In his 25 years with Cleveland Clinic, he has served as a financial manager for the Division of Surgery (1992-1993), administrator for the Department of Neurological Surgery (1988-1992), and a supervisor in Inventory Control (1984-1988). He also taught evening classes for eight years at David N. Myers University in Cleveland while working at Cleveland Clinic.
"Rob is an exceptional leader and he brings a wealth of experience in operations and working with physicians throughout his career," said Fred DeGrandis, President and CEO of Cleveland Clinic Regional Health System. "He will be a strong asset to Medina General Hospital."
Stall has a Master's degree in Business in Quantitative Business Analysis from Cleveland State University and a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Marketing from John Carroll University. Stall is also a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives.
